Ray, the founder of GSRRR has a strong Faith in God and felt God put on his heart that he could not only help German Shepherds but that he could also try to be a help to people struggling with mental health problems and addictions. The majority of our volunteers to date have all experienced their own personal struggles and we have found that the dogs are a huge help in easing and reducing their anxiety, depression and addictive tendencies. Whether it's working alongside the dogs, gardening, being creative in our hobby hut or simply being with others in a relaxed safe place, it all seems to have been a huge lifeline to many people.
Our volunteers progress and feel a sense of belonging, gain a sense of achievement and of purpose. There is a therapeutic element in having a dog by your side and many of our dogs to date have saved peoples lives, from suicide, self harm and drug abuse etc. We are a cross Community Group and are eager to help reduce the horrific suicide statistics and help people that are struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.
We are entirely volunteer run, so if you feel you can support us by volunteering please contact us.
